Diversity Gathers Strength (TM)
The Accounting Services division was created in DSBE's 2010-11 fiscal year. The division is not expected to be sustainably and autonomously profitable until 2015.
It's first client was the founder's mother who finally admitted to him she was concerned about the condition of her stock portfolio.
After her investments (representing nearly half her net worth) were put in highly speculative investments in emerging markets rather than conservative instruments such as bonds with an account manager who charged excessive fees (as a percentage of her holdings value, not by boutique portfolio manager's standards) by her first husband, Eugene Lea Bass, the founder's father, she then exhausted her holdings by her draws on its capital to supplement her social security, fueled by the demands of her excessive costs of living in the absence of any spousal support, the demands of her second husband, Rudecindo Felix Torres, his family and businesses both in the U.S. and Peru, and of her indulgeant generosity towards her three sons, including the founder.
She had dividend checks years out of date and from companies no longer in existence which she retained DSBE to attempt to recover what little value they had. Some were for holdings she and the founder's father failed to separate in the dissolution of their marriage from a dozen years before, which her ex-husband still retained control over.
All told, the compounded injustices which helped destroy his mother's financial health led DSBE's founder to establish this division. It is intended to be among those first exported to Namibia when DSBE expands there.
Short-Term Goals

The short-term target markets of the division include local private clients and non-profit organizations, both religious and not, primary those based in East Palo Alto, of which there are at least 100. Sales efforts for fiscal years 2014-2016 will focus upon these market segments.
Such clients would be in the neighborhood of Chua Giac Minh's bell, shown above (the Giac Minh Pagoda is intended to be regifted as a major shareholder of DSBE, see About DSBE for details.)
When workload justifies the investment, the Accounting Services Division will seek to hire additional human resources, with affirmative preference for residents of East Palo Alto, and graduates of both Free at Last and the David Lewis Community Re-entry Center.
Mid-Term Goals

The mid-term target markets of the Accounting Services division include other businesses and private parties in DSBE's overall target service markets of Atherton, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Portola Valley, Stanford, Woodside, and the unincorporated highlands of San Mateo County. Its clients should include those who are concerned with keeping their bookkeeping and tax returns in order, so as to avoid the predicaments such as those of its first client.
Such clients would be in the neighborhood of SLAC, shown above and St. Bede's Episcopal Church on Sand Hill Road.
Sales efforts for fiscal years 2016-2020 will focus upon those domestic service markets.
Long-Term Goals
The long-term target markets of the Accounting Services division include the present and future members of the Namibian Stock Exchange (NSX,) in Windhoek, Namibia. Current members of the exchange are primarily in the businesses of diamond and gold mining, and banking. DSBE plans to help foster the growth of new members for the exchange, likely as clients, primarily in the fields of electrical power generation and distribution, water desalinization, oceanic aquaculture, and hothouse and openly irrigated agriculture. DSBE hopes to have a subsidiary on that exchange by 2023.
Clients could also include others in the neighborhood of the NSX, shown above.
Sales efforts from fiscal year 2020 onwards will focus upon those potential clients.
